On January 27th, join Pathlight HOME with The Hive Orlando and the UF IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program in a garden build day to install a series of raised beds to benefit the residents of Maxwell Terrace Apartments! Residents will learn about urban agriculture, nutrition, and the culinary use of the foods that they grow.

Volunteers have already been working hard to prepare these pallets for their new purpose as beautiful food gardens!! Come out on Saturday, January 27th at 10:30 AM to help set them up, fill them with soil and compost, and plant seeds for a more nutritious future!

Thank you to our partners in this community event, UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program and The Hive Orlando!

  • 'The Hive' is a community initiative of IDEAS For Us, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. The Hive is a multi-generational, interdisciplinary group that exists in communities for the purpose of organizing stakeholders for action projects. On the last Saturday of each month, The Hive Orlando gathers to implement action projects designed to create a local impact towards the achievement of the Global Goals, which they call Umuganda. Umuganda means "Coming together for a common purpose."
  • UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP) - The UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP) empowers Floridians with limited resources to take control of their health. We teach people how to eat healthy on a budget and to get physically active in order to reduce the risk of obesity and chronic disease. We offer free nutrition education in schools, child care centers, and in communities. We also work to improve access to healthy foods and change the environment in which adults and children make choices about food and fitness. Our free programs are offered in 40 Florida counties.
