Empowering Mobility With the KFC Foundation

The success of this partnership is a reminder that mobility isn’t a matter of convenience; it’s a matter of self-sufficiency, dignity and personal freedom.

Freedom is on the move at Pathlight HOME, thanks to a generous $10,000 grant from the KFC Foundation. The funding sponsored eight mobility scooters for residents at the Maxwell Gardens and Maxwell Terrace apartments, laying the foundation for a more accessible future.

Navigating the world without a car isn’t easy in Central Florida. Still, it’s the only option for many adults experiencing homelessness – including some residents now working toward long-term stability at Pathlight HOME. The new scooters allow those who are older or less mobile to better handle tasks – like grocery shopping or visiting the doctor – that would otherwise be prohibitively taxing.

The success of this partnership is a reminder that mobility isn’t a matter of convenience; it’s a matter of self-sufficiency, dignity and personal freedom. By addressing practical limitations on where residents can go and what services they can access, these devices open the door to full participation in the wider community.

“These scooters are already making a difference in the lives of our residents, and we’re deeply thankful for the KFC Foundation’s generosity in making that possible,” says Danny Arroyo, Director of Operations for Pathlight HOME. “Together, we’re creating solutions to real-world problems and working to eliminate daily barriers to opportunity in Central Florida.”

The KFC Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports KFC employees and their communities through access to education, assistance in times of hardship, and charitable giving. It harnesses the impact of small giving on a large scale – from donating a portion of proceeds to encouraging diners to round up at the register – to create a significant impact in the community.
